Mediation and Collaborative Law

Divorce Resolution Without Litigation

Glastonbury, Connecticut (860) 633-0300

At the law office of Frauenglass & Associates, LLC, we represent individuals and families in collaborative divorce and divorce mediation proceedings in the Judicial Districts of Hartford, New Britain, Tolland (Rockville), and Middlesex (Middletown) and represent clients throughout these counties. We work with clients who wish to amicably resolve a custody dispute or end a marital relationship. Contact us to discuss mediation and collaborative law as alternatives to traditional divorce proceedings.

Collaborative Law

Collaborative law is a fairly new approach to the resolution of divorce disputes. Unlike mediation, which employs a neutral third party to help the spouses come to a mutually beneficial resolution of their disputes, collaborative law retains the lawyer-client relationship. Both parties agree not to take the dispute to litigation, but benefit from the legal expertise of their lawyers as they negotiate a resolution to their dispute. If either party decides to terminate the collaborative approach and proceed with litigation, each party must hire a new attorney. The collaborative approach encourages cooperation between the parties, but provides a more formal approach than mediation.

At the law offices of Frauenglass & Associates, we represent men and women in collaborative divorce proceedings. Contact us to learn more about the collaborative process and whether it is appropriate for you.

Mediation

In our divorce and custody practice, we encourage clients to consider using alternative dispute resolution (ADR), such as mediation, when parties want an amicable divorce. As mediators, we work with you and your spouse to help you collectively craft a resolution of custody, visitation, support, and property issues. Our goal as mediators is to help you and your spouse reach an agreement that is in your best interests and in the best interests of your children.

We understand that divorce can be the most traumatic experience a family can face. We have the skill and experience to help you make informed decisions about custody, support, visitation, and property distribution. If you wish to pursue a divorce settlement without extensive litigation, we can assist you and your family through the process of mediation.

Contact us to schedule a consultation to discuss whether a collaborative approach or mediation can work for you.
